About book Um Mundo Brilhante (2012)

I think this is the more human book and close to reality that I have ever read. My feelings changed throughout the book for all the main characters. I know this is kind of a love or hate, as I saw reading numerous reviews. So when I started reading it I wasn't sure what to expect and it was good that I expected anything because I was surprised about how much I was wrong, but it was not a bad disappointment, it was good, really good, I loved the experience of reading a book with real characters, like I said ... HUMAN. T. Greenwood built characters based on real human being. And that is rare today. On a morning like any other, Ben Bailey founds a Navajo boy nearly killed in front of his house, blood stamped in the cold snow. It could be just another case of death of Indians who do not get along with alcohol, but this is different and Ben knows it. Bailey can not leave out the history of Navajo Ricky Begay and gets involved with his sister lovingly, Shadi Begay. But Ben is already engaged to Sarah, even though their relationship is not good, Sara loves him and he has affection for her, making the situation difficult for Ben.In the midst of looking for truly responsible for the death of Ricky, we are led to the complicated life of Ben, his past and present. Despite what I saw in almost all the reviews I read, I didn't think Sara as an annoying person. Most have revolted with the character and Ben vindicated by the betrayal, but I think everything in this book has an explanation. Sara became unhappy next to Ben for his own sake and that is mentioned in the book, she was always a happy person, but he is disappointed. People have become accustomed to the heroines who endure the disappointment of their beloved.I felt that this is a story that could have happened to my neighbor, or someone I bumped into the street. And that's why I liked the book because despite the fact that I hated Ben and all situations of the story, I understood the message the author wanted to spend. Tammy's writing is perfect, she uses some methods at the right time, to feel the confusion of the character. If you want to read a book to escape reality, so do not read, but if you're tired of fictions that look more like a fairy tale and want a break ... bet on This Glittering World. I am so happy to have found Tammy Greenwood as an author. I really love her books. This one I liked but didn't love. I guess bc I just didn't like the characters. Ben lives with his fiancé but won't set a wedding date and it is clear from the beginning he wants out. His fiancé is way too controlling and pretty unlikable to me. Story opens in Flagstaff in a snowstorm the morning after Halloween when Ben goes outside for the newspaper and finds a young native American teen dead in the snow from an apparent beating. Ben tries to 'solve' the mystery of who killed him as he recognized him from where he tends bar. He keeps this hidden from his fiancé and meets the dead boy's sister Shadi and thinks she is who he is meant to be with. Book, like all of Greenwood's books has great imagery, great character development, and deals with many emotions. This one deals with a hate crime and cover ups.

Meh....kind of boring. It was an easy read but it didn't draw me in and I disliked the protagonist.
