Rhyme and Sachs investigate a killer that seems smart. And sadistic. The first victim was knocked out, then a car backed onto her abdomen. her death was long and agonizing. The evidence was tough because a dumpster had been turned over and all the trash bags ripped open, th contents scattered all over the area. But Rhyme made some head way.Enough to stop a second death, then a third. And made the right steps to catch the killer.A nice short tale of forensic science. I love Deaver's writing and the characters he's developed in the Lincoln Rhyme series, but in this particular story, they seemed silly. Perhaps it was the length, but the beloved characters have become caricatures of themselves. I think some of the details and nuisances featured in all of the Rhyme books that make them awesome seemed magnified in a short story, and thus, silly. Still, a great taste of what's to come in June with "The Kill Room".

Enjoyable, but of course too short. Happy to see Amelia back in action.
