About book Torrent (2011)

Awesome!!!!!!!! LOVE IT, LOVE IT , LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT,LOVE IT, LOVE IT , LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE ITI love the story, I love the character,I love the book cover,I love all of them!!!I recommend this book to all who like to read strong female character with man who is sweet, dedicated, and romantic. ;)I enjoyed myself reading this book. I am glad this series end with happy ending. If anyone who know any books with similar story like this one, PLEASE TELL ME :)I want to read them Recommended for: Ages 18 and up (the romantic content was definitely not for younger tween girls)Okay, so I'm not the biggest fan of romance books. I can stand Christian romance most of the time, especially if it comes in the form of a regency, western, or chick-flick kind of tale with some great Christian values thrown into the mix. I know the plotlines can be predictable but sometimes a girl just needs a good fluff book. Those were my sentiments when I started reading “The River of Time Series.”I read book one and I thought, “Okay, so Marcello is a hunk. I get it. Moving on.” And while the constant talk about his model looks and hair and muscles... you get the point... was a bit overkill for me, I kept reading anyway. I was intrigued by Gabi's personality and I loved her thought process as she tried to adjust to Medieval Italy. Then I read book two and finally the story started to shift focus from Marcello's handsome appearance to what kind of guy he was on the inside and what his belief's were. Which then had Gabi asking herself all sorts of questions about her own beliefs in God. Yay! Gabi, and her sister Lia, were now trying to navigate through one obstacle I hadn't foreseen, the black plague. AHH! It was interesting and there wasn't much repeating in the plotline which had been a problem for me while reading Bergren's “Grand Tour” series. So, then, I was getting excited to read book three. I couldn't wait. It was gonna be so good. After weeks of waiting for the third book to come in at my library, I finally sat down and began reading book three. And I'm thinking, “This is good. They have their dad, their going back in time again, and now... now, they are going to be hit full force with the black plague. It's gonna be such a crazy, scary, awesome adventure!” And I read and then the story shifts in a way I wasn't expecting at all. And I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed that it didn't involve the black plague. Nope, instead, Gabi is threatened with the possibility of getting married – to the wrong guy! And I start freaking out until IT happens. She kisses bachelor number two, willingly. I'm pretty sure I scowled at the book. UGH! No, no, NO! She's supposed to be with Marcello. I finally had grown used to him and was starting to even like his character a little even if he is a total Romeo (yeah, I'm not a fan of Romeo and Juliet. The whole doomed romance kind of turns me off. I like my happily-ever-after's). As soon as I read that Gabi kissed bachelor #2, I literally almost stopped reading. I hate when this happens. Books, movies; doesn't matter. When there are two guys in the picture fighting over one girl and she can't seem to make up her mind which one she likes better... I start to get annoyed. Really annoyed. It doesn't matter how nice both the guys are, I can't stand it when I feel like character relationships get drawn out unnecessarily. It's supposed to add drama I guess but it drives me nuts. But I gave the story half a chance. And when I kept reading, Gabi seemed to genuinely regret her actions and realize just how much she really did love Marcello. And I kept reading. Until the second hiccup came. Gabi gets married and there is this whole “wedding night” kind of scene. I can't tell you how much I blushed because I couldn't actually see myself but I'm pretty sure I turned the color of a beet. And okay, I admit, it was... acceptable the way the scene was handled and yes, they were married which was good. The scene cuts out before you get to anything too detailed. But the intent was there. And I just shook my head, totally embarrassed. I like light romance and with this book series, the thicker you get into it, the heavier the romance becomes. If this scene hadn't happened so close to the end of the book, I would have stopped reading completely just because I don't like reading stuff that's so romantically based. But At that point, I needed to find out what happened. So, as uncomfortable as it was, I kept reading even though I had my doubts about if it was even worth it. (If I had known that scene was there, I could have just skipped a page or so over and been fine with the book. Which is why I'm saying it now. For anyone who prefers to skip over that part and have the knowledge of this books contents ahead of time.)I read the end chapters, I won't tell you what happens, but it was awesome. So unlike anything I expected. The ending gets five stars. It was that good. I was holding my breath by the end of it with my palms sweating and my heart beating with adrenaline as if I had just witnessed it first hand. Oh, it was Sssoooo good.Because of all the romance, I give this book two stars. I was able to stand the romance in the first two books but in this third one, it was just overkill for me. Aside from the romance, the storyline was surprising and satisfactory. If you're a romance fan, this book series is for you. If your looking for something with a bit more content you probably won't like this series. It's mostly just fluff, even more than I was prepared for, especially in this third installment to the series.

Lord Greco makes all the cheesiness of these books worth it. Completely stole my heart.
