So much better than the last one. For some reason the length didn't bother me this time as it did with #5 Gabi and Marcus's story. Master Raoul was so loving and caring throughout the whole thing it's hard not to like the guy. Yet he's a beast in Dom mode so you kind of like to hate him at times too. Kimberly was a fantastic heroine like Beth in book #3. The tragedy of her abduction and abuse really gets you hot under the collar. Yet she's so strong willed and determined to persevere. Overall, the best book in the series so far. It had everything: love, sex, D/s, action, comedy and scandal. A well rounded story. This book so is so closely linked to the last book, which made the first part a bit hard to read, the slaves, how they were treated, how they were nothing, even Raoul's part was hard to read about.I liked that Raoul did what he could to save Gabi's friend, even as it compromised the larger mission. The aftermath was bad too, I hated how Kim was so skittish and how for the good of everyone she had to step back into the world that hurt her so bad. I did love seeing how Kim and Raoul learned to trust and even love each other. So many times it was one step forward, two steps back. I hated how Raoul's past seemed to set things back at times. Had he not had that experience he would have taken the chance much sooner and not been corned by Z.I loved how the subs gathered and did what they could to fix things for Raoul, even if they got punished for it.

It is my favorite story of the Master of the Shadowland's book series so far.
