In this fourth installment of the secret series, Cass and Max-Earnest are separated by time and place... in a way. Cass is stuck in the past searching for The Secret, but she's also in a coma in the present, and it's Max-Earnest's job to save her. For whatever reason, though, he can't.I read the first three books of this series, The Name of the Book is Secret, If You're Reading This, It's Too Late, and This Book Is Not Good For You, in middle school, and I thrilled when I saw this at the store. I picked it (along with the next book, You Have To Stop This) up and am so glad I did! I was a bit concerned that it was the kind of book is good when you're thirteen, but not when you're older, but I was so wrong. It's still just as funny, just as quirky (in a GOOD way), and just as clever.I would recommend this book to any child or adult, but I'd specifically like to recommend this to anyone who enjoys Welcome To Nightvale. It's pretty different, but I think anyone who likes one would like the other. They're both humorously dark and just.... weird. But not oh-look-how-weird-I-am-aren't-I-cool? Just different, refreshing, hilarious, wonderful. I mean, the author's pen name is Pseudonymous Bosch. The books tell you not to read them. You just can't go wrong with that! This Isn't What it Looks Like is by an annonymous author named Pseudonymous Bosch. Cass had just eaten chocolate that makes her remember "the secret." This comes with a price, Cass is basically stuck in a coma until she remembers. Her closest friend Max-Earnest is very scared for Cass, he has no idea what is going on. Cass is in another dimension and has no way to reach Max-Earnest or the secret society. Will Max-Earnest ever figure out what is wrong with Cass? Will Cass ever get out of this dimesion back in time? Read the book to find out.
