Fish and Snail live in the same book, but Fish is more adventurous and often explores other stories. He returns to share them with Snail. When he tries to convince Snail to come adventuring with him (he's found a pirate story!), Snail is reluctant. They have a fight and Fish leaves. Lonely Snail discovers in the end that he has the courage to explore, and - in effect - come out of his shell (not literally!).I really liked the illustrations - snail and fish are adorable. When you move from the book world to the real world, everything is in black and white (nice transitional effect). I would have liked to see more focus on the adventures that Fish and Snail have together (perhaps similar to Frog and Toad stories?). This simple and short story is told in an interactive way with beautiful illustrations that children will enjoy!
