Freedman, D.(2011). Blue chicken. New York: Penquin Group."Blue Chicken" by Deborah Freedman is about a little chicken who in his farm land spills a pot of blue paint turning everything blue. In his attempt to make it right and get everything back to its rightful color the little chicken makes things worse. That is, until the end of the book. This book is full of color and minimal words and it is a very easy read for young children. I would recommend this book for two year olds all the way to first grade. I think the children would really like the story and think it was enjoyable and funny. The teacher could even engage the audience as to ask them what they think will happen next in the story. The illustrations in this book are beautiful. And I like how the chicken in the illustration is able to spill a pot of paint onto her page. And how all the other animals get upset as the mess grows. Visually, it's a really cool book. I just felt like the text was a little... thin? I don't know. The illustrations were so remarkable and the text was so mediocre. It wasn't bad... but I guess the pictures raised the bar in my mind.
