This is a good book. A young girl is brought to the castle in her town by her father so that she can work there. She eventually works her way up to being a silver polisher. She is in charge of polishing a silver bowl that talks to her while she is polishing it. It shows her that there is a curse on the royal family. The young girl and two of her friends end up saving one of the royal family. The person that is thought least likely to be the villain is the person who actually is. This is the first book in a series. Every once in a while, usually when my life is overwhelming and chaotic, I pick up a young adult or early teen book to read. Or I reread a childhood favorite. So I purchased this at our Scholastic book fair. What fun. My 9 or 10 year old self would have not only loved the book and the character Molly; I would have daydreamed my self in to the role. And cast the supporting roles, like Lief Garrett for the part of Prince Alaric. And because some of the topics are more complex, but the writing is not, I would have filled in with my imagination. I think I'm doing it now! And isn't that what we all want from a children's book? Especially for the children that read the book?
