About book The Search For WondLa (2010)

THIS BOOK WAS SOOO GOOD! I loved the amount of imagery in this book!! Because this book is so good, i have read it at least 5 times. I loved the way DiTerlizzi described everything; I felt like I was actually there. The way he described the flavors of things made me want to taste them myself, and it feels like i did taste them. This author is perfect and i can't wait until i get to read the second book in the series! A good scifi book for grade school ages 3-6th or so, with a female protagonist who is raised in an underground Sanctuary with no other humans and only a robot to watch over her, a MUTHR (multi utility task help robot). After the Sanctuary is attacked, Eva Nine escapes to the outside world, but none of her training has prepared her for what is out there. None of the plants and animals match what her Omnipod recognizes, although some appear to be possibly related biologically, or to be a mutated mix of flora and fauna. The other sentient beings she meets have never seen a human before, although she bonds with a telepathic herd animal and strikes up a friendship with a Caerulean named Rovender who grudgingly agrees to help her get to a large city where she hopes to learn about other humans or how she got to this planet of Orbona (the Roman goddess of children, especially orphans and adoptees) when she thought she was on Earth. Many adventures, some humor, beautiful illustrations, and a decent set-up to what is obviously more story in the trilogy makes for a good read for grade-school scifi or fantasy readers.

The Search for Wondla by Tonu DiTerlizzi is a fantastic adventure with a young girl named Eva Nine Who has lived her entire life underground. She is accompanied by a robot named muthr. When a creature invades her home she is left out in a world completely different from the Earth she had heard about. She meets an alien named Rovender, a native to the planet Orbana on wich Eva is on. She and her two friends embark on a quest to find her mother and the only thing she has of her mother is an object named Wondla. The book is very well written and the characters are clearly defined in their actions. The creatures and places are imaginative and their illustrations are magical. Eva journey is relatable to anyone who has or are looking for a place to fit into the world. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a magical story.

This book was nothing short of amazing. I truly did love it and is for the lover of science fiction and futurists. A young girl who knew nothing but an underground facility, a smart system, and a robot embarks on a journey that will take her the farthest reaches of the planet, with a price on her head and a behemoth by her side, what journey lies ahead? Read this book with amazing illustrations by the author himself.
