So. First of all I would like to admit that I have NOT read the other books in this series, which MAY be why this one totally flunked for me. When I started reading this, I was genuinely surprised that it had reached as high ratings on Goodreads as it has. There must be some SERIOUS personality-building of the MCs in the other books, because I didn't get any feeling for them in this book at all. Everything was rushed, some things didn't make any sense and I very quickly got tired of all the gorgeous, rich men - and that says a lot, because this book is short. Everyone in this book seemed... wooden to me. Fake. All of the gorgeous young men were sassy and upbeat all the time, making it extremely difficult to tell them apart and very often people laughed at things in the book that were simply weren't laughable. Everyone seemed forced and unreal. Now, this may just be because I haven't read the other books, but it was like the author pushed all these bi-characters that were main-characters in former books into this book to give us an update on them, but it was so short that it just made them seem fake. Also I never like it when a character is flawless, it makes everything less believable. Sorry : / I've only read one other in the series and don't recommend going from one to seventeen. i was confused and didn't quite understand how everyone knew each other. also there were no shifters in the previous book I'd read so it was a surprise when they were mentioned since i assumed assassins and shifters were mutually exclusive in the series. you know what they say about assumptions. moving on, the writing style also wasn't for me. it was very in your face and not at all subtle (if that makes sense) so i lost interest at 28%. sorry for not being able to give a proper review
