Connor did not hesitate to move to Black Creek with Josh even though it meant a big change in Connor’s career. The intriguing part of the story touches on the history of the rogue wolf shifter, yet does not elaborate on the other shifters living in the area. The questions of how the building of a pack started and by who is not clearly apparent. There is also some question as to the true identity of the rogue wolf intent on killing everyone he encounters except Josh. There were two encounters yet Josh was not bitten. On the other hand Connor was bitten with the intent to kill him. RJ Scott’s The New Wolf is a mystery that ends in a cliffhanger. I look forward to the next installment of this fascinating series. Josh and Connor moved to Black Creek to start a new life together after living in the city for years where Josh was a veterinarian and Connor a cop. Now that Josh is part-owner of his practice and moved to Black Creek, he's hoping the change in scenery will help relax Connor and bring them even closer. Connor is missing the big city, but is adjusting just fine. To keep his mind entertained during the quiet times he starts digging into cold cases of kidnappings and disappearances. When he goes deep in the forest to check a lead, his life is changed forever. Can Connor and Josh overcome this new obstacle thrown at them or will their plans crumble?I enjoyed The New Wolf. Both Josh and Connor were interesting characters to get to know. I loved their relationship and the fact they were committed to each other. I could see their connection ran deep and their love for one another was something special. I enjoyed their chemistry and their banter.In regards to the story, I feel like there was something missing. I know this is book one of a series but I still was curious to know more about the Black Creek pack and how they came about. After a somewhat slow beginning establishing Josh and Connor in the town, I felt like the pace was rushed too much. It felt like some details were skipped and some of the more interesting points were skimmed and not examined further.Having said this, I believe The New Wolf is a good start to a new Building a Pack series. I'm curious to know more about them and looking forward to the new installment.
