About book The Loud Book! Padded Board Book (2000)
a) describes kinds of loud, not necessarily as good or bad, but kinds that children can identify withb) not necessarily, not much opposition within the textc) shows that some types of loud are acceptable ("good crash loud" at a bowling alley)d) texts help illustrate how some types of loud are good while others are bad ("deafening silence loud" is portrayed as negative with a very disappointed mother standing over some kids at a cookie jar) Although this one isn't quiiiiite as good as The Quiet Book (to me, at least), it still has some very nice moments. Liwska's illustrations are still absurdly adorable, showing emotion and action well. Some of my favorite types of loud here: -dropping your lunch tray loud-candy wrapper loud-deafening silence loud-garage avalanche loud-crickets loudI recognize--and could feel--each one of those types if loud. Great concept book to share with kids (with The Quiet Book, of course).
