About book The Interrupted Tale (2013)

This is a review of the first 4 books of this series, taken as a whole. They each felt like a very short, incomplete book on their own - like sections of a larger novel. Although Wood still did a great job of wrapping up current action and mysteries in each book, while leading you towards more questions for the next. Can't wait for the last two books!I loved meeting Penelope Lumley, the young governess, and her Wolfy charges! These books are so fun and charming and the characters are awesome. The children are individuals despite being raised together by wolves in the woods. The bad guys are classic and even the good guys are mysterious. Lots of foreshadowing but some twists and turns too. And hopefully a little romance soon! These are silly and smart. They feel a bit like Lemony Snicket but without the gloom and bad attitudes. I heard they are like the Mysterious Benedict Society series but I haven't read those so I'm not sure. I highly recommend The Incorrigibles for kids 8 or 9 and up. And for grown ups! Just as Miss Lumley turns sixteen, she is invited to speak about the benefits of a Swanburne education, as part of an effort to save the school from new trustees, who are determined to change everything. This book is very much a filler book, with only a few tidbits of information spread throughout, and it definitely has an interrupted tale. However, there are enough clues that I can see where things will be going. The writing continues to amuse me, along with the antics of the Incorrigible children. It's nice to see the at Swanburne, where their odd genius is recognized and encouraged.
