I like the concept of this book very much. Queen Mab alive and well running a circus of fey and witches. I found Vivienne and Kingston likable and interesting enough to get invested in but the periphery characters were underdeveloped as was much of the storyline. There are so many good ideas here but many are just never properly explored leaving the book feeling frantic and unfinished. I do plan to read the second book though. I picked the “Immortal circus” a paranormal/fantasy fiction story by A.K Kahla thinking it would be like a book I once read. I had high expectations but within just a few chapters I was hooked. The main character, Vivienne, has run from her past and when she met Mab- a circus ring leader- she signs a contract with more bindings than she can remember. After she joins the circus things about herself and her past are very hazy. After a performer of the circus is mysteriously murdered, Vivienne starts to ask questions, But does she really want to know the answers? Vivienne discovers secrets about herself and about the circus. She learns that not everything is what it seems. The thing I love most about this book is its vivid and morbid story line. In the beginning the right leader Mad says “ the party’s just beginning, I recommend you leave before the night terrors arrive” this was said in the beginning of the story and it is very true, it was just the beginning and the story got more twisted as it went on. The author really keeps the reader at the edge of their seat waiting to figure out viv’s past and why people in the circus are dropping like flies. I recommend this book to readers that enjoy unexpected twists, does’nt have weak stomach and it wouldn’t be a bad idea for the reader to have an interest with myths.
