This was such a beautiful book. Alexi's writing is done perfectly. She does not repeat herself or focus too much on one thing for too long, which can be hard for authors and quite irritating for the reader. The first half has great character building and towards the middle I was wondering what direction Alexi was going between the two main characters and by the end I was very pleased with the outcome. Its a wonderful book about how friendships build, the things people do to help those around them, and how the people you meet can change you and the way you percieve things. I cried a few times and I was not left wanting more from the story. It ended beautifully, but I definitely want more from the author! Highly recommend. Please read and pass on to a friend. I started out with little heart for the female character, Juliet, but as soon as she started falling for the stray cat that wandered into her life, she became more likable. The differences between Juliet and the "illegal gardener" (Aaman) made for faster page turning and I was pleased and I respected the friendship that they found in their differences. I would recommend this book to readers young and old. Any story that prompts one to think about human nature and the vast differences in cultures is a story worth reading.
