I guess this is just not my type of book. The first several hundred pages with a young girl describing life on a lighthouse island with her family and another family was interesting although slow. From that point on it became unbelievable, people do not do things that are that cruel, stupid, and illogical without consequences. So the story went from immature to illogical. I will not be reading the sequel. Okay , looking at the reviews this must be one of those " love it or hate it " type books ...I was fortunate enough to love it . Although I admit , I did not find it Flowers In The Attic-ish ( I loved that book as well ) . I was intrigued by this dark, yet emotionally deep coming-of-age story . I found the characters believable and the lighthouse lifestyle interesting . I thought the book was spot on with the historical telling of the time period. Yes , Lillian meets many terrible events . Yes, I saw the twists and turns coming . Yes, I had the book figured out . No , it did not "just end " ...I personally can't wait to read the next book ;-)
Do You like book The Girl In The Lighthouse (2000)?
Strange book..reminded me a lot of a V.C. Andrews book. Maybe the second book will be better.

This book had great potential, but lost it's direction. Disappointing conclusion.
