About book The Fallen 2: Aerie And Reckoning (2011)
Sooo Aerie and Reckoning. Overall, it was a good read compared to the very first book, The Fallen. You can see how much the writing style improved (Honestly, I didn't like the writing style esp. the first time I've read it) and how the characters can get you in the writer's grip. So heeere's my breakdown:Writing Style: Just right. Sometimes, it gets boring especially when terms are being repeated (like "the first of the fallen angels bla bla" then you'll see it again in the next paragraph). Probably it's meant for emphasis but I still think it was overkilled. However, it helped very much during fight scenes.Plot: The plot is very promising, but there's this one I'm a bit iffy about. [SPOILERS] It was when Vilma was revealed as a Nephilim. It was a bit predictable, and it didn't sound too good to me. I think the plot can still go on with Vilma simply being Vilma and still being captured by Verchiel. [END OF SPOILERS] In general, it's good.Characters: What made me hang on to this book is the characterization. Everyone is colorful in their own way, and I'd like to commend Gabriel, Camael, Lehash, Lorelei, and of course, Morningstar/Lucifer. They are so distinctive and you'll get this nervousness whenever you feel like one of them are in danger. However, one of the drawbacks is that some are pretty underdeveloped, like Camael, Gabriel, and Raphael (and Zeke from The Fallen). I think that some narrations are wasted on repetitive descriptions, which could have been used for developing characters instead (since I think Sniegoski has this ability to give this distinctiveness to each of them).That's all. I think I'm off to reading End of Days next, and I hope our school library gets filled with the last two books, Forsaken and Armageddon. The first book was okay, got a bit better towards the ending, which was the only reason why I chose to read this second book. And it was an ultimate bore. Its not one of those books that was somewhat interesting, or that made you want to read more. I couldn't even get passed 15o pages I was so bored. It was such a waste of money and time. I can read a whole book in a week if I wanted to, yet this book took me almost three just to get to that many pages, it was so dull and boring. Some people really like these kind of books, which I can understand. Theres also a movie for these books, which I have yet to see. However, I was bored reading this. If you like this, great. BUt if you want my opinion, its a waste of all you have. I am not continuing this series, because, to me, i would die out of boredom if I was left alone with this damn book.
