About book The Fairy Guardian (2000)

I wanted to love this book. I mean it had everything I love: Fairies, fighting, forbidden romances, a power house main character. I just didn't like certain aspects. For one both Violet and Nate go from 0-hella-in-love in literally three seconds or less. Secondly Nate betrays her way too quickly so if I better find out that he's under some sort of spell. Thirdly, what the hell is wrong with the Guild? I've heard of interoffice politics but they've got some crazy next level favouritism going on. I wanted so much to like Violet but it's hard when she's constantly making horrible decisions. I wanted to reach into the book and smack her sometimes. And for someone so strong she sure bellyached over some heartache for way too many chapters. All in all the book wasn't horrible but it could have been much better. I really enjoyed this book. Violet, so unlike the other fairies, was instantly likable, and the conflict quickly pulled me in. Morgan's writing style is easy to read, and rich with detail. I fell into the magical realm and enjoyed the many layers Violet struggled to work through. I love when minor characters are added to give a vibrancy to the a fantasy world. In Faerie Guardian, I found the vine. That's all I'll say as I don't insert spoilers into my view. I did have to take one star for what was labeled as Bonus Material, but felt odd to read after the novel had concluded. This is the peril of first person writing. Violet couldn't possibly have known was happening in those chapters, but because they were added at the back, it felt odd. Overall, I recommend this fantasy novel to others who enjoy this genre.
