I think this has been one of my favorite picture books so far! I think it had such a sweet message, and it told a great story. It raised the awareness of the importance of gardening and of plants! And it all started with a little boy's desire to make a difference and to garden! I think that most children would really enjoy this book, because the illustrations are beautiful and so fun to imagine really coming to life. I would love to wander through a city that had an old railroad track with a beautiful garden like that! What a dream! I loved this book! I wold highly recommend it! The Curious Garden brought tears of joy to my eyes. The illustrations are perfect for provoking a sense of colorful journeying through the seasons. The protagonist, a little red haired boy named Liam, becomes a dedicated gardener when he uncovers a small patch of wild growth on abandoned train tracks in the city. For New Yorkers, an immediate and perhaps personal connection to the creation of the gardens of the High Line is realized. For children from anywhere on the planet, the feelings of being powerful and capable agents of change, are easily identified through the inspiring character of Liam. He shows tenacity, ingenuity, creativity, and patience as he turns a little patch of dying ground, into a city of beauty, where citizens become inspired to create and care for their own gardens. I recommend to anyone enjoys beauty and nature, to grab the book and take a trip to the high line. I can promise, you won't be disappointed!!!
