This book is about a boy name Liam who lived in a dreary town where there was no life outside, so everyone stayed indoors. One day, Liam had the idea to bring the garden alive near some railroad tracks. Through the seasons of the year, Liam did everything he could to save his flower, rejuvenate them, and make them come alive again. In the end, Liam changed the view of the town. I believe this book's main theme is Possibility. As a teacher, I would have my children have group discussions about what they would do if they could change one thing in this world to make a difference. I love this book, but not the author's intended message. It seems that the author wants to say that human-built cities are monstrosities and that the world would be better with more greenery that is being destroyed by humans. However, the book is also about a boy's imagination. It's about the boy exploring the world and having fun with it. That's the message that i really like, and I think if you read this to a kid, you could talk to him about either theme.
