El libro esta narrado en primera persona. Son una serie de cartas que la condesa le escribe a su hijo, que van contando su historia. Al principio del libro, se muestra una mujer sumisa, enamorada e ignorada por su marido, luego avanzada la historia se muestra una mujer mas dura, despiadada con sus criadas. En particular me gusto la historia, como dije antes esta Condesa estaba relacionada a personajes fantásticos de la historia, acá sin embargo, no es nada de eso, sino una simple mujer que poco a poco (a mi parecer), fue enloqueciendo hasta llegar a cometer actos de crueldad hacia sus criadas, mujeres jóvenes, que no poseían ningún derecho y de las cuales podría disponer como quisiera, por el simple hecho de ser una condesa de renombre y dueña de la casa. Ese fue hasta su último día la justificacion a todos sus actos. Una historia mas real, una mujer sanguinaria, sin respeto por la vida de los demás. I have to say, I really enjoyed this book. It was very well written and, apparently, researched. In 1611, Countess Erzsebet Bathory Nadasdy of Hungary, known now to the world as The Blood Countess, relates her life to her young son in a letter from her tower prison where she has been walled up for the torture and eventual murder of countless young women in her employ. Legend portrays the Countess as a blood thirsty monster. How strange that a woman is a monster while a man, Vlad Tepes, also known as Vlad the Impaler or Dracula, is considered a hero.

Disturbing but interesting. Not exactly what I was expecting. Not for the faint of heart.
