I liked this book well enough to actually finish it but there were a lot of things that had me puzzled. Like, I can understand and 18 year-old girl who's been abused leaving home as soon as she's able, but why run from town to town every few months and change her name each time? It's not like she's an underaged runaway that can be sent back home. And why does she think of herself as a horrible person just because she was abused as a child? It wasn't her choice! I also thought it was odd that she told Lincoln she didn't want to ever talk about her past, but as soon as he noticed the scar on her palm (but didn't even ask her about it) she immediately told him the whole story about what happened. The last chapter ended on a big "what's going to happen?" but then the epilogue immediately jumped forward in time without letting readers know what happened. I actually swiped back a few pages, thinking I had missed a few chapters. Very confusing and inconsistent but still a fairly entertaining read. I got a copy of the book for honest review. The writing style - I was not impressed. HJ, I usually considered an exceptional author, but this book did not fulfill my expectations. The dialogues were "loose" as if children talk, not adults.I think that the book has a lot of potential and that all of this could be written much better. It just could not immerse myself in the story. Okay, I understand that she saw horrible things in life and that horrible things happened to her, but I'm extremely annoyed by her behavior.Already in the first chapter, I struggled to keep reading. My scars, my scars, me and my scars ... the most frequent words in the first and the next few chapters. Okay, you've got the scars, and I realized it after the second repetition.Further action is heating up a bit, but not for long. The heroine meets the hero and as It usually happens in most books, it was love at first sight. blah .. seen that too many times ..Of course, the past is initially between them, nothing is happening, one shedding tears while others fight for the "connection". It's all very predictable. In addition to the predictable course of action, the book has some interesting and funny moments, but still, it just didn't sufficiently interested me.And also, it has too many similarities with other book, such us.. instead I love you, they say I pizza you hard.. We al know what am I talking about..With a little effort, I managed to finish the book, although it took me almost nine days.
