Don't let the title deceive you: this book has depth! It took me a while to even pick it up due to the caddy title, but once I did-I couldn't stop. The narrative of this story is beautifully written and clearly well researched. This historical accuracy was refreshing. And the characters were so believable that they became relatable-don't you love it when that happens? I highly recommend this one. It's a winner. I really loved this book. The story started with action right away and kept me glued to the pages until I had spent all day reading to finish the story. I now need to go research the Shawnee tribe to learn more about the people that this story introduces. The love story within was sweet and took it's time to develop. Morrow's relationship with her father was endearing, as well. I would recommend this book for middle school aged students and up, though I will warn there are a few somewhat graphic descriptions of scalping and murder. The message of forgiveness was one I needed right now, and the christian side of the story was not overly preachy. I sighed, I definitely sobbed, and it left me feeling completely fulfilled with all the loose strings tied neatly together. A very satisfying read.
