I've accepted that Robin Cook basically uses the same plot again and again. A curious young academic/doctor gets involved with an organization that promises to change the world for the better etc. and finds out that said organization is taking advantage of clients and performing morally despicable deeds (often in the name of science). I've accepted it and moved on. I continue to read his books because they are quick reads and more intellectually stimulating and intelligent than a lot of other such quick reads. And often there are elements about the books that i end up enjoying and appreciating. This was one of the better novels from Cook that I've read I think. The two main characters are interesting and compelling (even though they both possess the stubbornness characteristic of Cook's protagonists, it was pardonable). There was even one character so seriously disturbed that he could have come right out of a slasher flick. The plot was fairly suspenseful and full of chases and heists. The full monstrosity of the deceitful organization (this time the Forbes Cancer Center) was revealed in the last few pages, and all of the pieces fell perfectly into place. I will warn that Terminal (like most Cook novels) is packed full of medical jargon, but it's not too difficult to understand mostly if not fully. All in all, it was what I expected and what I wanted: a book that I could read quickly and enjoy the intrigue and suspense as the plot unfolded. Plus all the molecular biology keeps my brain sharp!

Do You like book Terminal (1995)?
This is a lousy book. Some Robin Cook novels are decent thrill rides with a bit of medical horror. Others are just outright bad, with paper thin characters doing incredibly stupid things for incredibly stupid reasons. This is one of the bad ones. Much just doesn't make any sense, and the main character is like a parody of a driven medical researcher. There are red herrings everywhere that are obviously red herrings because they pop up and then disappear. There is even a serial killer who is introduced, and then pretty much dropped from the story. And yet I read this all the way through to the end. I don't know why.

One of my all time favourites; though Coma by Robin Cook was pretty much running on the same lines (and arguably much better). I wouldn't really recommend this book to someone who isn't particularly involved in the medical field or has a keen interest in the said area. The prologue is a little rushed up but does build up an interest for the mentioned patients. It could get a little tiresome and boring when the reader reaches halfway through as the writer has very minutely described various medical procedures which weren't required (if you ask me). Personally, I love this book and have read it thrice; as for all books by Robin. A must read for people in the research field of medicine and students likewise.
