Grace and Asher. Grace went to an island where slave is a property and has no rights. She went willingly to a guy Lucas who turned out to be an real ass. Asher lost his slave, Darcy to an accident his friend caused with a bull whip. Asher buys Grace from Lucas and starts fixing her damage. Not too hot, rather mild, but emotionally well described. Later Lucas tried to get Asher arrested for murder, and took over Grace as his property. Asher saves Grace just in time. Enjoyed the story, so far out of her books I've read, Big Sky, Mafia Captive, and Guilty Pleasures, this book is top 1 or 2 along with Guilty Pleasures. I really liked the premise of this book: basically, a sex slave who is rescued from a cruel master. She goes to live with a new master who has the ominous reputation of killing is last slave, but it turns out, it was an accident. This master is kind to her, and has to pretty much re-teach her how to be a human again. I loved reading about the progression of her slowly regaining herself back. It was very well-written.However, the ending seemed rushed. The book has lots of action in the beginning, but slows down in the middle. All of a sudden, it speeds back up for the ending. I think it would have been better if it wasn't so rushed. I can say though, that I will be looking for more reads similar to this one.
Do You like book Tender Mercies (2011)?
Not as powerful a story as Comfort Food or Guilty Pleasures in my mind but still a hell of a read.
