About book Tales From Lovecraft Middle School #1: Professor Gargoyle (2012)

A book especially written for kids, set in Dunwich and featuring Azaroth and the Great Old Ones? Where was this genre when I was a creepy little girl? All we ever had were the Bunnicula books (a great series in its own right, of course).Because of its intended audience, the book is somewhat simplistic, but the idea and setting are quite interesting. It doesn't manage to engender the eeriness of H.P. Lovecraft's original works, but it still is interesting to read the story of a boy growing up in the setting of Dunwich, encountering some of Lovecraft's evils, in the modern age. Not a whole lot of surprises, but still a quick, entertaining read. I'm looking forward to reading the next. When i first saw this book, i thought it was kind of a comedy bio or something with this weird cover. so i never thought about actually reading it. till my sister got it and i'm thankful she did! i finished it in one setting. it reminded me a bit of the goosebumps book, which I adored as a child, it was as creepy and fun.i know this book is originally for middle grade readers, but still as an adult (let's just pretend i am one) i couldn't put it down! Robert character wasn't what you'd describe as 'strong' but he was really smart and believable tho.i'd recommend this for anyone who wants a quick, fun read. also, for whoever enjoys the goosebumps series.
