TAKE CARE, SARA is a heartbreaker and a heart mender. Narrating this novel was such a challenge. When I auditioned for the job, I was immediately drawn to Lindy's writing. There is a gray-ness, a certain tone that resonated so clearly with me. Her cadence, the pace of her writing, the number of words she uses, really matches my rhythm and my way of seeing & hearing what I'm reading. Lindy's work possesses a grace that I find to be rare. I knew I was the one to bring her words to life and I am grateful she thought so too.Sara, Lincoln and Cole are so clearly drawn, as is the pain of this situation for all three involved. I wanted to do Lindy's work justice without stepping over into maudlin. I wanted to give this kind of suffering voice without making it cloying.I think it takes a very brave writer to journey into this kind of territory and turn the story on the head of a pin into an inspiring tale that gives back so much.I was privileged to narrate this story and I hope listeners love it as much as I do. Loved it!! The way Sara's total sadness and desperation was described was perfect, and seeing her friendship with Lincoln blossom into something pure and sweet was a joy to read. The only reason I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars is because I felt like it was beginning to lag in the end, with Sara's hesitation and the constant back and forth with her and Lincoln, it was understandable of course, but a bit of a nag to read. But, still I loved the book.
