Ohhhhhh what can I say about this book?Well I'll start with a bit of background first. When I first started on GR I rated all the books I'd read in the series so far at 5 stars, because I loved the series and was still getting my head around the whole rating thing. Just over a year down the line, I'm more objective with my ratings. So this is a 3.5 star rating upgraded. And in hindsight I would downrate some of the others in the series if I read them again now. This is the first Breed book I've read since then, so a lot of time has passed, I'm also writing this review after reading #28 and #29, so some of my comments apply to those as well (yes, I will be copying & pasting, lol). But it was just like putting on me comfy slippers, you know pretty much what you're getting, and therein lies the problem. This is #27, so as a reader if you're reading this book you've already invested a lot of time in this series, and are continuing with it because you enjoy them and want to know what happens to the individuals. However it's all just so formulaic. From the title you knew pretty much what was going to happen. That's not such a bad thing, but it would have been nice for the mystery to have been kept as a mystery, because you found yourself thinking how come these super intelligent beings haven't figured it out themselves yet.As for the sex, well it's still scorchio, but lets face it, at this point in the series it's rote. Just insert any characters name and you've pretty much got the same sex scenes in each book. Would be nice to switch it up somehow, couldn't one of them have a bit of kink, cos we know how sexual they are? Also with all the DNA changes etc it would make a change if there was a menage situation. This was explored as a potential with Lawe & Rule, but never really got out of the starting blocks, plus with them being twins that would have been just downright weird. But I'm sure those evil scientists somewhere along the line would have spliced DNA to make a female viable to more than one male to enhance the success of breeding, cos that's what they were all about. After having such a long gap reading between books it was nice to have a few refresher bits in the story, but then bits kept getting repeated. If you're reading #27 you should know most of it by now, so whilst a refresher of some bits within the first couple of chapters is nice, it doesn't need continually repeating throughout the whole book. Even bits that were new to this story i.e. their feelings about one another and situations seemed to be continually repeated. After a while it was "FFS I read that a couple of chapters ago". I know this is going to sound harsh but it was as if Ms Leigh had a word count to achieve, so figured repetition was the way to go to achieve. Which is actually sad because she's such a talented writer with a brilliant imagination, especially as there were so many opportunities to really take this story somewhere. At least it looks as if we are nearing resolution of the Amber situation, about bloody time, cos that has just dragged on and on and on and on. Was good to see Cassie again, she is one of my favourite characters, however I wish her role in the book had been expanded as given the storyline there was a lot of scope for it. Wouldn't it have been good if she'd been taken to the site of the steam room, there would have been so much for her to see there and would have opened up the possibilities of more storylines with future books.Bottomline I did really enjoy this book, as my comment earlier suggests I have continued with this series and will carry on, but please switch it up a bit more. Review for Stygian's Honor Stygian’s Honor is the 27th book in the Breed series by Lora Leigh. This time our lovely couple is Stygian and Liza. The story literally picks up at the end of Lawe’s Justice in Window Rock AZ where the Breeds are still searching for Honor, Judd, Gideon and Fawn in hopes of finding a cure for Amber (Jonas and Rachel’s daughter). If you have read a Breed book then you know what happens next, Breed meets his mate, she of course is oblivious, he pursues her, she gets mad for fear she will be caught and thus loose all independence, they have passionate sex where the hormone teaches them both they will be together or die. For a change I liked both the hero and the heroine. They actually seemed to have some semblance of balance, Stygian defends his mate to Jonas which was nice and he actually learns about what he should have done with Liza. Liza does have some major issues so when she flips out it kind of makes sense but she frequently comes to reason rather quickly and she talks to Stygian which was also quite nice. I thought Stygian was not the typical alpha hero and it did not take away from him at all, I liked how he had no problem giving Liza what she needed and it was rather romantic. Did I mention I think Stygian was rather yummy? I think this guy fits the bill **grins** The overall plot is getting a lot irritating. I think I am sick of Jonas and Amber, I get it you want to save your kid but must you try and destroy everyone in the process and hope it works out? Of course Jonas also comes across as all knowing which is equally annoying. I missed Gideon in this one he was rather entertaining in Lawe’s Justice but at least I have Dog – who I think is Cassie’s mate. It was also nice to see Loki so I am hoping we have some coyote books in the near future. Anyway the plot line barely moves in this story and the end as usual felt like I was missing a chapter or two, but I am beginning to suspect this is just a Breed book thing. I like to think the books are getting better so on to Rule Breaker and here is to hoping we can get out of Navajo Nation!
Do You like book Stygian's Honor (2012)?
I loved this hero. The Breed series is an autobuy for me, but I have to confess, this many books into the series I wondered how the author could continue to keep the storyline fresh. That question didn't stop me from purchasing this book as soon as it released, but it did keep the book sitting on my dresser for many, many months. I finally read it over the Thanksgiving break. I'm glad I waited. It was a joy to read. I'll confess toward the end I found myself skimming past the pages long sex scenes. The meat of the story--the romance between the hero/heroine--was so good I wanted to get back to it.What did I like about the hero? Stygian's as possessive and dominate as any other male breed. However, he thinks before he acts. He anticipated having a mate (unlike others who both dread and fight against the mating) and when interacting with her, he though about the long term consequences of his actions when dealing with her. Also, he stood up to Jonas for his mate. That alone would make me his slave. If you've been putting off reading this book because it's "just another breed story" I recommend you give it a chance. I'm glad I did. Waiting to see where she goes with the Amber storyline next.

typical Breed story. pretty good, tho - enjoyable. some reviewers seem to be upset w/ the similar storylines in this series, but i like it. the similar themes are what make Breeds, Breeds. and the actual situations are different enough to keep it interesting. the too much sex thing is annoying, but also typically Breed, so ... *shrug* there ya go. at any rate, the STORY was enjoyable. : ) and i do still want to read fawn & gideon's story (at least, i think that's where that's going) and hope that the entire series will eventually close w/ some resolution on the overall story arc.
