I liked this book but it made me anxious when the child was kidnapped by someone she knew and pseudo-trusted and the hell that followed. At that point I'd invested such time into the book I felt like I needed to see it through. But truth told, had I been more aware of the way the story would unravel, I likely would not have chosen it. I'm sure that has more to do with having an almost 5month old daughter rather than the content of the book. I was glad when it was over; like I could finally exhale. First time reading this author. This was a very uneven read with a slow start but much better middle and ending. The story is told from three perspectives, the wife/mom, husband/dad and their five year old daughter. The best written of these three perspectives was clearly the child, Grace's. The characters of the parents were not well developed and many of the situations in the early part of the story were quite contrived. The fast paced ending of this story really saved it. I might try this author again but overall this was likely not her best work.
