5 huge stars from me!Loved this book! It's my first book by Garrett Leigh but I can safely say she goes on my auto-buy author list. I love her writing style and the way she explores the human mind. Not much happens in this book in terms of action. I've said it many times, and I'll say it again - my absolute favourite kinds of books are the ones that don't have any sort of outside forces and action to move the plot, and yet they keep my attention throughout. The story is entirely focused on Ash and Pete, their relationship and their lives. I LOVED that! The writing was amazing and I couldn't put it down. Considering I was listening to the audio book edition, that meant I was walking around with my headphones glued to my head for the better part of 2 days.Speaking of the audio book - it's one of those audio books that makes the book even better. Loved the narrator! His voice is so smooth and sensual...Having said all that, I need to point out (again) that I have a pretty high tolerance for angst in books. As long as I know things will work out eventually, I can read (almost) anything. I'm pointing that out because this book is not for everyone in terms of the themes the author delves into. There are some pretty dark places the human mind can go to, and some pretty gruesome things that can happen to people. Well, in this book both are explored and I must admit at times it was hard to absorb.Still, I loved it and I'm sure anyone who's not afraid to explore some darker themes will love it too.Recommend with all my heart! I don't know what to say about this book. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. I'd never recommend it. The POV shifts were difficult to adjust to and it there was a huge time skip of almost two years between the two parts. I never came to really care for these characters as I have done for so many others. I was just frustrated with them. I kept wishing for the big reveal to finally come and when it came there was no surprise, it was pretty mundane. The book was longer than it needed to be and went off on rabbit trails that were unnecessary. I know that it will not be on my list of rereads.
