This was a good escape in terms of what I usually read, and it kept me going. I found myself not wanting to stop reading until the end -- this meant I was reading while cooking or doing things where I could keep the book open. There were interesting characters, twists in the storyline, and I found myself completely drawn in. The sex scenes were nicely written, not gratuitous, and included getting into the characters' heads. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who really wants a change of pace read. 4 1/2 stars.Hayley (we get right away that it's an alias), obviously on the run from someone or something lands in Rapid City, SD. She lands a job waitressing at a bar and meets local garage-owner and ex-military man Chris "Shooter" Sullivan.Chris is suspicious of Hayley and thinks she's trouble but he winds up renting her the house he owns next door to his place. He nicknames her "Slick".Hayley slowly gets to know Chris and his band of buddies, Tex, Hawk, Doc & Easy. They all sort of "adopt" her though she and Chris have an attraction and connection. They really take their time getting to know each other and do not just jump into bed. It's pretty much the half-way point (and this is a full length book) but when they do it's smoking. So sexy and sweet too. The build up just illustrated how easy it was for Hayley to fall for Chris. But it was also necessary because of her mysterious past and the horror she is running from.I have to say I loved their story so much and wished it went on and on. I do have to deduct a bit for spelling errors and the going back and forth between the real names and the nicknames sometimes pulled me out of the story, but I was completely caught up in Chris and Hayley's love.I'm sad to say, reading the reviews of the rest of the books I don't think I'll be reading on. Book two is hardcore BDSM and sounds to be the opposite of Shooter in tone. And the other stories sound to be cliffhangers and mixed reviews. So for now, I'll tuck this story away and think about for a long time with a smile and a sigh.
Do You like book Shooter (2013)?
