I never never read mythology before other than the stories we read as kids.....but Shiva Trilogy has given a completely different perspective of mythology ...it something u start believing (n that too with logic)...It was thrilling romantic and full of surprises ....not to tell but i cried wen sati dies ...i know that it was to happen but cudnt stop myself....it is in a way very endearing ...just loved..... They are simply Outstanding! Truely Amish deserves the comparison with Paulo Cohello. His storytelling skills mixed with his immense knowledge on Indian mythology and Hinduism created nothing but magic. The trilogy is about how an ordinary Tribal lead (Shiva) from Tibet became the God Neelkanth/Mahadev by his Karma. The story revolves around defeating evils but just like a great writer Amish has revealed the suspense in the second part only that actual evil is not the tribal Nagas, but it is the once good "Somras" which was creating disaster in the form of contamination. The first part was excellent in depicting few outstanding characters - Sati - Shiva's love and a woman with highest dignity and courage, Parveteswar - the noble general of Meluha, Ayurvati - the Mewluhan chief doctor, Shiva himself. Second part is where we came to know Ganesh and Kali and Kartik was born, it was shocking to know that though Kali and Ganesh was Sati's own relatives, they were shunned by selfish emperor Daksha for their deformities. Last part is the final battle fought by Shiva's alliance (Vasudevs, Baishali, Naga) with mightly Meluhan and Ayodhyan forces masterminded by Lord Bhrigu. Some terrible conspiracies unfolded and tragic deaths met our paths but afterall it was the win of the Mahadev. However I didn't like the ending though, Shiva's anger over Sati's tragic death compelled him to destroy entire city of Devagiri with Pashupat Astra (modern nuclear fusion bomb!) was too harsh to me. But overall it was too good of a series. Har Har Mahadev! Jai Sri Ram!
