Honestly I thought it was super uncomfortable. The whole book was kinda corny and just made me feel really uncomfortable and awkward. It could have been a great story , had a good storyline, but all the conversations and interactions were really corny and awkward. It also went way to fast. (SPOILER ALERT) ....> and personally, the whole 'I love u' bit came way to fast and ruined it, they'd barely been seeing each other for long and although in the end they were together and she was safe, they still barely knew each other. I also think there should have been a better introduction to the abuse, not that I'm sadistic or anything, but if you want your reader to relate to the character at all, you need to let them see that bad, not just bee idly hunt at it.So overall, for me , was pretty much a waist of time. Sorry. It was ok, I guess. I expected more considering how often this was rec'd to me. To be honest this felt like a short NA told in 3rd person instead of the god awful 1st.The first part of this books was all about Evie's thoughts and introspection and inner goddess, ok, no goddess but you know what I mean? It was paragraphs of non interaction and for such a short story I was really bored with this heroine which I think that's my biggest peeve. She was BORING!! Her naivete was grating and to be deeply immersed into that POV for freaking half of the book was painful.That's the next thing. It's in limited 3rd, which basically means first w/o the use of "I". We get nothing from Van (the hero), nothing from the mom that leaves her daughter in a house of abuse, nothing from the abusive father. Which makes this story an x-rated cut of a potentially powerful story.
