Okay so there are mixed reviews for this entire series, and it seems to be a marmite situation, you either love it or you hate it.I happened to really enjoy this book, as I have the series so far. I started reading after watching the Tv series and wanting to delve deeper into yet another vampire concept. Although the two are worlds apart in most senses, they are both, for me at least, enjoyable and well constructed. This has been my favourite book of the series so far. I'm impressed by how thoroughly Damon's personality is explored and his relationship with the world and life in general is explained in more detail.Overall I gave this 5/5 stars because, well, why the hell not? Despite a few typos here and there, it really was brilliant, at least in my opinion. What can I say... Smith just kept on with the pissing and spitting on a series of books that actually made sense until the end of fourth book. Listen, I said MADE SENSE. They werent good books, the story was shallow and stupid. Elena is stupid. When she came back from death I was like: did I miss any detail? And on Nightfall the story was cool, great! But she started writing like rubbish. Again, the idea is GREAT, but everything happens all of sudden and it seems like Smith is tired of this and just want to make money by fooling little teenagers who are obsessed about it. If I learned something with those books is how NOT to buy the whole series at once. Even though I dont like to stop reading in the middle of a story, I could this time if I had the chance to talk to Smith about WRITING. She had a great and original idea (starting from the fifth book) but how about DEVELOPING THE IDEA INTO A BOOK? Just... You know, instead of writing shit and making your editor seem like a brainless vegetal that seals contract with anyone.
Do You like book Shadow Souls (2010)?
The Dark Dimension was an excellent storyline to this book. One of the best parts to the book.
