I actually found other overall plot more compelling than Incarceron (though apparently I was the only one), some parts of it still annoyed to no end. The main issue is the same problem I had with the first one: the author doesn't keep the point of view consistent in a single paragraph. She'd constantly have dialog from two different people without any sort of break, making the flow jarring. I had to re-read parts multiple times just to figure out who is supposed to be talking, or whose point of view we're actually supposed to be seeing this from.Plot-wise, the pacing was good, and it pulled me along. There were parts in the ending that I just couldn't stop scratching my head, though. To discuss it with minimal spoilers, I was extremely confused by the technological revelation. I know it's a stupid point to get caught on in a fantasy, but parts of how it worked bothered me so much that I focused on the ridiculousness of that more than the conclusion of the story.Anyway, until the very end, it was really quite good. I wasn't even planning on reading it after being disappointed with Incarceron, but I'm glad I did. I may upload a more detailed review in the future...but for now I don't Know...This duology just didn't work for me. I didn't connect to any of the characters and I don't know why. Also the writing wasn't appealing to me. I felt that the world building wasn't very good either. All these problems appeared for me through all the series.I even think this book deserves 2 stars and not 3.Also the ending of this series felt like it was pushed and I felt the author didn't explain things right. I just felt like she's throwing data on me, without any great explanations.Unfortunately, this series didn't work for me, and mostly I didn't enjoy it:(May others will find this books more enjoyable, but that is just my own opinion.
