This is the second in the McCabe Trilogy. Alaric has agreed to marry Rionna McDonald to unite the McCabe and McDonald clans. On his way to visit her, his group was attacked. Somehow he managed to escape. He rode until he fell, fortunately it was at the house of a healer, Keeley. She was banished by the McDonald clan but managed to make enough to live on by healing people. She takes care of him. He gets attached to her during his fever from his wounds. His horse goes home to the McCabe keep. His brothers come for him and Ewan, the McCabe Laird, has decided Keeley is coming with them.Keeley cares for Alaric after the return to his home. They are in love but fight their feelings since he is promised to her cousin, Rionna. It was Rionna's father who banished her. But Alaric and Keeley can not continue to fight their feelings. But something happens right before the wedding to change things.I liked this one a lot. Keeley is a sweet person who went through a bad time. OK, so to be honest, this second book is so much better than the first book in the McCabe Trilogy (and believe me, the first book is amazing!). Apart from the sexual scenes that are described in a sensual but beautiful and full-of-love way, which is the thing that Maya Banks does so very well, the book is also full of touching emotions and heartbreaking feelings from the forbidden love of the two main characters. They are certainly each other's soul-mates, and the way they handle their romance is so painful but at the same time joyful, which I really love. The theme of Keeley being a strong, selfless woman besides being a love-desiring girl, ready to sacrifice her love and also her life for the cause of the whole clan is the touching point of this novel. And like every other historical romance books I've read, Cinderella always gets the prince, I'm so happy that they end of safe and sound together :)) Long live passionate love!

Gw suka dengan hero dan heroine dibuku ini. Mereka sama2 ga egois, sama2 to the point dan mau berkorban demi org lain. Walau agak gregetan krn mereka bdua celaka terus tapi seru, bikin deg2an bacanya. Buku kedua ini membuat gw makin menyukai McCabe Trilogy, biz seru2 semua, ga kya series MB yg kontemporer, byk yg mengecewakan, bgsnya cuma buku 1 doang. Mantablah series ini, membuat gw penasaran utk menamatkan buku ke3 nya juga.
