This was a long time coming. I finished Vol. 5 years ago, and was enjoying them so much that I purposely delayed number 6 because I didn't want the ride to end. Each volume has such great humor and fun twists. There are references, ridiculous transitions, meta-fiction, convoluted rules--Volume 6 has it all.I'd seen the movie first so I knew the general ending but everything played out very differently in the book. I liked the way Ramona was shaped here, and her return felt real (the book is sort of hyper-aware of that reality, but that doesn't lessen it in any way). The closing pages are rendered in a surprisingly beautiful way befitting the simple style throughout the series. This series is a modern classic for a reason and will likely be enjoyed for years to come. The video game conventions may be morphing, but if you can relate to being young, Scott Pilgrim works. Scott Pilgrim is by far the coolest series I have read. All the 6 novels are super stunning. Scott Pilgrim is a highly techniqued fighter with some amount of superhuman powers. But he is also naive and forgetful. By the end of the series, though,he develops into another person by acquiring the power of understanding. And Ramona, though having her own issues is still pretty loveable. So are Knives Chau, Kim and Envy. All the evil-exes,starting from Mathew Patel to the Katayangi twins with their leader Gideon Graves are a bunch of sophisticated villians. Though they are evil, they abide by many rules like not to gang upon Scott together but attack him in the order they dated Ramona. And Scott manages to defeat all of them, thus winning over Ramona. At the end he also convinces Ramona to stay. All in all, Scott Pilgrim's world is pretty chic. Step into it by all means & have an awesome time!!!
