About book Scott Pilgrim Vs. The Universe (2009)

This installment in the series seemed shorter than the others, and a bit rudderless. I'm enjoying watching the dawning realisation in Ramona that Scott is a real jackass, and she hasn't really found a guy any better than her past BFs. I know he's the protagonist, but I can't help but dislike him. I don't actually know how this'll end, I'm hoping it goes a bit differently than the movie did and she leaves him high and dry when all the dust settles. This is quickly becoming "Scott Pilgrim vs The Increasing Disequilibrium in Dean's Rating System on Goodreads." Because I just read another fantastic volume, and now I feel like I'm giving too many five stars in general.I think that the twins didn't receive any development at all. The only discernible fact about them is that they're twins with duo-attacks, and that they happen to build cool robots. Yes, there is a lot going on at this point, but some focus could still have been given on the twin's background. There was some excellent development going on with the main characters, though. We get a bit of Ramona’s backstory which provides some excellent insight. However, I feel that Kim is the strongest fictional character though, mostly due to how she develops in the background and how she demonstrates how true the show vs tell device works in literature. So yes, a fantastic read, now for the finale...

Do You like book Scott Pilgrim Vs. The Universe (2009)?

This volume felt complex in a strange way, as if all the fighting and comic timing was built upon a layer of emotional depth that only be cracked after the lightheartedness established this as a fun series. It's so revealing to the reader as a conceptual theme, not so much as a practical on-this-book's-terms sense. Age, dating, music, all of the things that make up your reflections as an early twenty-something are here in the same weird damage it is in real life. It's just a bit cuter and sillier here.
