About book Scarlett Red: A Billionaire SEAL Story (2014)
Well this did not start off where the last book ended, we are actually three years later. Talia is a writer and Sebastian deals in "asset protection."This installment was better than the last BUT it leaves you further out on a cliff than before. The story is clearly not complete and not all of your questions are answered. Generally I hate cliffhangers, but they are starting to grow on me. Especially when the story is captivating and we are left at a decent "pause" point. I really liked how there were snippets of Sebastian's POV, it was one of the things that I felt was lacking in the first book. I enjoyed getting a taste of what he felt and thought, but I do wish there was more of it.Talia, is still a little rough around the edges for me. Although she has grown up a bit from her and Sebastian's first encounter. She still does things that drive me insane but generally she is a stronger character.In this book, Talia doesn't start out looking for a mystery but finds herself in one anyway. Talia is taking what is supposed to be a vacation, but instead finds herself emerged into a potentially deadly game of hide-and-seek. During her "vacation" she crossed paths once again with the mysterious Sebastian. I find it interesting they both are bitter about the time they have spent apart yet neither of them sought the other other out during their extended hiatus. Just as last time they were together in the same room, these two have chemistry in spades. "Clothes are only trappings that when stripped away reveal the true beast in us all."This chemistry is intense and undeniable for them both. Not having a clear idea as where their "relationship" is going, if anywhere, they use their time together to reconnect on the most basic level."They represent us, Talia. Naturally raw and beautifully dirty. I don't want to erase that." This installment was stronger than the first and I can't wait for the conclusion. And to see what trouble Talia can find herself in this time. Let me just preface this with the fact that if you have NOT read book one, you should. There is a flow to this series and things that happen in the second book you won't understand if you haven't read the first one. That being said, this book takes place 8 years after the first book ended. Talia and Mr. Black have yet to be in one another's arms again and now Talia has to move on. She ends up going to a singles retreat and meets Bash. She doesn't want to be attracted to him, but she is. She still holds this special place in her heart for Mr. Black. No matter what she does she can't fight the attraction to Bash. What makes it worse is that she can't seem to escape Bash. He is everywhere she is. Will she be able to let go of Mr. Black and move on? Will she be able to find out who is impersonating her? There are a lot of things going on in this book as well. But just like the first book it leaves you wanting more and on a slight cliff hanger. You'll be just like me and asking for the next book ASAP.
