Mister Bud and Zorro practically leap off of the page-- no wonder, because Carter Goodrich does character design for Pixar. Beyond the great illustrations, the begrudging and then delighted friendship between the older Mister Bud (whom I always see as an elderly black lab) and Zorro (who has to be an adolescent pug) is just amazing. For the past three weeks, the "Zowwo" books have been read every night at bedtime in various orders at the request of my three year old. Mister Bud, the dog, has a pretty sweet life. He had a schedule, and he kept to it: 1. wake up time 2. biscuit, then walk time 3. nap time 4. shift-position-and-nap-some-more time you get the picture. One day, his rigid schedule is interrupted by a new addition to the family: a pint- sized bossy dog named Zorro. There was trouble from the start. But then...Mister Bud and Zorro eventually discovered it was more fun to do things together. A great book about flexibility and friendship.
