About book Saving Hope (2012)

Title: SAVING HOPE-Author: Margaret DaleyPublisher: Abingdon PressMarch 2012ISBN: 978-1-4267-1428-3Genre: Romantic suspenseWhen a teenager goes missing from the Beacon of Hope School, Texas Ranger Wyatt Sheridan and school director Kate Winslow are forced into a dangerous struggle against a human trafficking organization. But the battle brings dire consequences as Wyatt's daughter is terrorized and Kate is kidnapped. Now it's personal, and Wyatt finds both his faith and investigative skills challenged as he fights to discover the mastermind behind the ring before evil destroys everyone he loves.SAVING HOPE is the first book in Ms. Daley’s The Men of the Texas Rangers series. I am reading these out of order, as I read book 3 first, and now book 1, but they are all stand alone. I enjoyed getting to know Kate and Wyatt, but the subject matter was tough to handle. It’s hard to imagine little girls as young as eleven being forced into prostitution. It’s just so horribly wrong. I did figure out where the story was going to end up pretty early on, and sometimes the extreme stupidity of the characters got on my nerves. Such as Rose. If she was so street-savvy, why did she go alone to rescue Lily? She even knew she was walking into a trap—yet she did it? And another street-savvy girl willingly got into a car with a man she was blackmailing. That’s just two examples of many. I wanted to yell at them to “think!” Even us naïve rural people have more common sense. Still, the book is very well written, engaging, and full of tension. It is hard to read, due to the subject matter, but not because of the writing. I recommend it to romantic suspense fans, and will read more of this series. Don’t miss SAVING HOPE. The final three books are Shattered Silence, Scorned Justice and Severed Trust. $14.99. 336 pages. 4.5 stars. I really enjoyed how this story took on a Christian tone dealing with something that happens in the US everyday, human trafficking. This story is an important read of parents of teens or young girls who constantly defy their parents because of a boy. I like to imagine if this story was a movie, who would play the parts. In Saving Hope, I pictured the actor from "Longmire" as the lead character, Wyatt. It helped me see through the character's eyes, opinions, and the way he handled things as a Texas Ranger. Also, Kate, the manager of Beacon of Hope, a home for troubled girls, was a relate-able character. A woman who is passionate about saving young girls, as I am a teacher who wants to save children too. I enjoyed how Wyatt and Kate found themselves to be together, not by having this terrible incident bring them together, but how they needed each other and really didn't know it. Isn't that how we are in real life? We don't know what we have until we miss it. We don't know how much we love someone until they are gone. We never really cherish the little things. Saving Hope is a great story of love, faith, and danger all intertwined in an easy read that keeps you wanting more.
