About book Sailor Moon, Vol. 02 (2000)

Someone, please tell me, are these different than the originals? Because some of the scenes I remember quite clearly, and other things I go, "There's no way that was in the original! Or else I'd remember!"Were things cut out of the original release? Or was this re-release a remake and not just a re-translation?EDIT: Turns out my memory's just faulty. I dug out my old translations (these are way better, by the way) and found that the things I didn't remember really did happen in the original as well. As with Vol.1, I found the illustrations to be breathtakingly gorgeous and the translation to be really well done. Any Japanese slang or cultural references are contextualized at the back of the book and I really appreciated learning a little bit about Japan as I read. This book really builds on the backstory from Vol.1 with less of the rapid who-are-we-fighting? pace. The romance between Usagi and Mamo-Chan is palpable: it adds a more humanizing touch to the out-of-this-world alternate dimensions that we have to accept. Finding the legendary silver crystal and discovering that Sailor V is really Venus and not the princess (I liked that they noted that she was a body double!) was exciting and a great A-story, but I really like the whole subtext of this book a LOT more. The entire universe that Takeuchi created is so intricate and full of politics and complex ideas that it's hard to read this volume and not start thinking, wondering about everything that's not being explicitly said. I really hope that in further volumes or maybe in another series we can go back in time and learn about how the kingdoms of the solar system were established, etc. Looking forward to Vol.3!

Anyone else notice how Takeuchisensei doesn't really draw backgrounds?
