About book Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Vol. 9 (2004)
I apologize if this review seems unnecessary, but I am trying to review every book I read to get back into the motions. So this volume of the manga stands as one of the reasons I prefer the manga to the show overall. We get a lot of inner depth and conflict for the Sailor Scouts. There is great insight into who these women are, what they stand for and what their dreams are, as people and as scouts. We also see the bond between the inner and outer scouts which is an older sister- role model relationship which is really good. I also like the insight we had into Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Saturn. Their family relationship was just really beautiful and I love it.Also we get some insight into Mamo and we see that he has other purposes besides being a support system. He is part of the Earth. His relationship with Usagi also gets developed very nicely and it is much better handled than in the anime. I especially love how Chibi Usa was developed. For a character I disliked in the anime dub, her manga counterpart is so interesting. I just love Sailor Moon you guys. So there's really not much more I can say about this manga that I haven't said before. The art is beautiful, the story is fun, the characters get brief development... And of course the changes from what I remember from the anime still surprise me.I still have the same problems that I've had with every other volume so far. It feels like everything is happening so fast, and the "minor" villains are defeateed so quickly. It's disappointing. And of course this volume ended on a cliffhanger. I wish now I hadn't read them through so quickly, because I have to wait for the next volume to see what would happen next.
