About book Romeo & Juliet: A BabyLit Counting Primer (2011)

I am slightly disturbed. OK, it's fun. We get to combine Shakespeare with a colorful and interesting board book that teaches counting. It's fun, it's creative. And strange. I mean the play is a tragedy. Someday the child who grew up with this book is going to discover the whole story and wail in utter despair, "Wait, they DIE?" No...not ready for the disillusionment....On the other hand it's fun. And interesting. Just...disturbing. Any resemblance to the real story is purely coincidental! This series is silly! (Funny silly or ridiculous silly... you be the judge) They take classic and put it at a baby level. So Jane Eyre becomes a counting book 1) Balcony 2) loves etc so it is really nothing to do with the actual story...but I guess if you want to expose your 3 month old to Romeo and Juliet... Here you go...just don't expect them to use this book for their High School Book Report

Do You like book Romeo & Juliet: A BabyLit Counting Primer (2011)?

Cute art. Cute concept. But reading even pieces of a tragedy to a little one seems a little off.

Spoiler alert: this board book version of the classic play did not end tragically.

Teaching babies to count with Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet; count me in!

A little curious how they handle them both dying for little kids.
