About book Revival, Tome 2 : Quarantaine (2013)

I still don't know what's going on with those white ghost-y guys in the woods. I'm a big fan of Em, especially, "It's more fun when you run," but rather than sew up any older plot points or give more info on stuff that's already happened, too much new stuff is introduced - black market Reviver body parts & the gruesomeness that implies, whatever is going on at Ken Dillisch's house, "true white partiot" Edmund Holt (ugh), Em's teeth falling out? I guess, the Gift of Life group. I like reading these, but I weary of two pages of action on one group leads to two pages of completely difference action leads to two pages of new stuff & so on. I believe it'll all come together, but it's too all over the place for now. This is a really fascinating story. Like the last volume, it continues to build toward some unknown climax that you can just feel will shatter everything. Half the fun is trying to figure out what all the twists and turns will be but knowing that you don't really have a clue about any of the ones that matter. One thing that sets Revival apart is its sense of timing. There are actual time stamps and so far the story has taken place over a matter of days. Tim is really taking his time to tell exactly what is happening to all of these different people from the beginning. And there are so many people and so many angles to see the events from! There are revivers and kids and cops and zealots and criminals and more. It all winds together pretty handily in a way that progresses the story by making sure each and every character gets to play his or her part. The art continues to be beautiful and gory and creepy. It shows horrific images without being offensive or crass. Mike, the artist, doesn't revel in the blood and guts. You can almost tell he's suffering through it like he's just as upset about the violence as the people in the story would be. There manages to be a really dark aesthetic to the book while still maintaining a vibrancy in the visuals as well. The whole art team comes together really well. In all, this is a very methodical story that is going places. Volume 2 is a little more action-packed in some regards, but it's really very much on par with the standards set in Volume 1. The third is also out, and I can't wait to read it and start looking forward to Volume 4.

Do You like book Revival, Tome 2 : Quarantaine (2013)?

I'm equal parts intrigued and repelled by this. I'll probably let the next one decide me.

Creepy zombies, good art, and enough 'wait...what?' moments to keep things interesting.
