This should have been a 5 star reading. It ws a 4.5, and I pushed it down to four for one simple reason... no one backs away from BDSM after they identify it as part of who they are, after they invest in it and depend on it, after they have explored their own limits and enjoyed mind-blowing moments lost in the depths of it. This was a major no no for me. It made me sad. And yet, here I am again wondering how best to express how much I love Sylvia Day's story. I don't like drama in my reads - it makes me roll my eyes and COL (curse out loud). However, for all the emotional upheaval and characters who are so humanly flawed and psychologically messed up, I still found this difficult to put down. It is like going on an emotional roller coaster; there is drama and angst; there are secrets and misunderstandings; there are arguments and punishment screws but then you also have the hot sweaty make up sex and some incredibly sweet moments to make it all worth while! The second book in the Crossfire series was awesome to say the least. Gideon and Eva are still drawn to one another, they seem to be addicted to one another. Eva has told Gideon of her past, but he has not opened up to her yet, about what torments him so. Old flames from their past begin to show up, which only causes problems between Gideon and Eva. During a period of time in this book, Gideon seems to be pulling away from Eva, and the reason he did so, blew my mind. Cannot wait to see how this story unfolds.
