I have read these books since the first one was written. Every time I hope that the characters will grow to be a little less flat. Hannah especially annoys me. She is a verbose know it all. All the other characters defer to her for no apparent reason. She spends a lot of time over explaining the obvious. And yet she always solves the mystery while the well trained police department twiddle their thumbs. Why are all the other characters so stupid? That said, I have read everyone of this series from the beginning which says a lot for the quality of the story telling. The plots tend to compensate for the characters. Stick a fork in me 'cause I'm done. With this series that is. I've been a faithful reader but 16 darned books is past long enough to drag a "love triangle" out. Hannah clearly can't make up her mind between Norman and Mike, so I'll make it up for her and drop all 3 of them. Except that I really like all of the characters in these darned books. Sigh . . . At this point, it's clearly too much to hope that Joanne Fluke will improve her writing and character/storyline development. Which is sad to me because I've enjoyed this series and thought that eventually some things would change.
It was enjoyable. It's the second book i read from Fluke. Yes i am reading it out of order.
