So I'm a big fan of the fairy tale Rapunzel. You could say it's my all time favorite. That being said, I kind of have high expectations for any Rapunzel remake. This was innocent and sweet. I'd probably love it if I read it at a young age. And I mean like twelve. It's sort of a modern take on Rapunzel, and it almost seems like a modern take on Tangled. Almost like it's fan fiction. I don't mean that to sound harsh, but you can't deny it when you read it.It was predictable, nothing really exciting happened, and I was rather saddened at the poorly written villain. She seemed too one dimensional and flat. On top of that, she was annoying as hell. The way she talked made me want to punch her. I'm surprised Rapunzel could stand it.But this wasn't a bad book. Yes there was over repetition of words and it was predictable, but it was a light read intended for a younger audience. The ending kind of made me roll my eyes. It just felt too rushed. I was also a bit disappointed it didn't hint to her meeting her parents or anything too. You would think after everything she'd want to know that.I will give Miss Bennett this, the dialog was well done. I was rather impressed with that. This book was pretty good. Tangled was an influence in it. I didn't necessarily mind it but I wished the author could have been a little more creative. The relationship between Rapunzel and Fane was cute. The mystery behind Gothel was interesting. I did get anxious during some parts. And then the end. Oh boy. I thought it was a little bizarre. Okay it was kind of really bizarre. The whole thing with Gothel and that other guy... It was just weird! It felt like the story took a sharp turn into a pool of the unexpected. It was an epic ending I guess but a strange one. It also felt like it ended too abruptly. It just...ended. All the loose ends were tied up quickly, all in a rush. I would have liked the resolution to stretch a little longer than it did.Overall it wasn't too shabby and it was a fun read.
