About book Prokleté Město (2013)

Cute little story about a small town girl Kendall, who lost her best friend Nico in unusual circumstances. The problem was that I wanted more!More OCD dialogue, not just the motions, I wanted to go deep into her brain and be consumed by her obsessions. I wanted the story to be darker, more twisted, the way everything neatly unwrapped at the end bothered me, I was open to losing one more soul.Quick fun read. Cryer’s Cross was a small town where everyone knows everyone so when a student goes missing it puts the town into shock, Kendall especially due to her OCD she just could not wrap her mind around the fact that someone would do this, so she begins to wonder if this could ever happen to her. After a couple months people stop looking and school started back up as normal and people in a way “forget” about about the missing student. Although Kendall can not stop thinking about what happened to the student. Than a friend really close to Kendall goes missing and the whole town comes together again to help to search for the missing students. Soon after, speculation raises that the new student in town Jacien is reasonable for both of the kidnappings, although the police deduced that Jacien did not do it. Kendall still did not like him and believed he was responsible for them disappearing some how. It was clear that Jacien did not like that he had moved to Cryer’s Cross and made it clear that he did not want to be there. Kendall no longer found any enjoyment and going to school and entered a depressed mood. Not having her best friend to talk to was not conducive to her OCD so her parents began to worry for her. Kendall would have to be the first to arrive at their one room school house in order to make sure all the windows were lock and straighten all the desk and get the room organized just they way she like it. Thanks to her OCD she was able to notice writing on her desk previously used by the two missing students she noticed new graffiti that had not been there before. When she ran her finger over it she got chills and heard a whisper saying “help me”. This book was a easy read and well written i would recommend this to anyone who is into mysteries or horror. It keep me interested right up to the the last page because the mystery was not solved until right up to the very end of the book.

Do You like book Prokleté Město (2013)?

This was the first book that I've read from Lisa McMann and because of how much I enjoyed reading this book I plan on reading more of her books. The book Cryer’s Cross was one of the first books that I actually enjoyed to read. With this book I blew through it and I read it in about a week because I just couldn't put the book down. I do not read books very often and it can be hard for me to find a book that I really enjoy but with this book I did. I would recommend this book to others because Cryer’s Cross never has a dull moment, something is always happening in every chapter. This book has amazing imagery and always leaves me wanting more. The way that the author explained what was going on, like when the main character heard whispers coming from a desk and she started to get chills, made his writing very powerful and strong. Lisa explained everything in well detail and its a creepy thrilling paranormal story with a mystery to it.

Ok, so this book had 2 positive points about it: 1. I was definitely a little creeped out 2. It was a quick, easy to read page turner that I read in one sitting. However, there were some disappointing points, including that the "voice" of the teenagers, especially the main character, just didn't sound like a teenager...this was really distracting at parts. Also, some parts of the book were just plain cheesy. Reluctant readers may be able to get over these negative points and be hooked by the storyline, but book lovers may not be as interested.

It took me a few chapters to really get into it, but once you do it just consumes you. Very good.
