Man, I understand that the whole romance thing is supposed to be between soul mates who were reborn to be together and whatever but seriously, I'm forever creeped out by the implication that a middle schooler is having sex. Can we skip that? And that's she's jealous of a small child. "A woman is a woman?" Uh no, not at all. And that she remains jealous of the small child even after finding out it's her daughter from the future. I'm a 100% positive that's not okay. Basically, I just really found myself thinking that Sailor Moon is kind of a twat in this volume. Not the best. The plot is getting a little repetitive.--------------------------------------------Review vols. 4-7No 4º volume de Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon continuamos a seguir a luta das Navegantes contra os misteriosos inimigos da Lua Negra. Tal como no anime, as Navegantes têm de enfrentar as quatro irmãs "da Caça" e o Ruby. Têm de proteger a Chibi-Usa do inimigo e tentar perceber qual o objetivo do mesmo.Devo dizer que não gostei tanto do 4º volume como dos anteriores. Apesar de a história avançar consideravelmente (tudo se passa muito mais depressa do que no anime), penso que a falta de quase todas as Navegantes durante a maior parte do livro fez com que o apreciasse menos. A Usagi (Bunny) é um pouco irritante neste volume também. No 5º volume, as Navegantes (ou melhor, a Navegante da Lua) derrotam finalmente a Lua Negra e o seu vilão-mor, o Wiseman. O que achei interessante nesta história, foi a sensação de ter conseguido pormenores novos sobre a história. O porquê da Lua Negra (ou Nemesis) atacar o Cristal Tóquio é bastante mais lógico no manga; mais bem explicado. As origens do poder da Lua Negra são também mais evidentes. Gostei sobretudo de como as personagens (boas) não são completamente, 100% boazinhas... a Usagi tem ciúmes parvos e a Chibi-usa sente-se posta de parte e inútil e é por isso que se torna a Black Lady. No entanto, acho que a autora explorou a vertente emocional do enredo apenas de forma muito superficial; talvez seja porque acontece tudo "à velocidade da luz", mas teria gostado de saber mais sobre as motivações das personagens. Enfim. Outro aspecto de que gostei foi a "continuidade", relativamente à história anterior. As histórias no manga não são "estanques", as Navegantes recebem poderes e vão crescendo com o acumular de experiências. E claro, adorei o papel da Navegante de Plutão.Os volumes 6 e 7, detalham a história da minha temporada favorita da Sailor Moon (no anime)... a temporada dos Death Busters. Mais uma vez, achei que os painéis estavam muito cheios e algo confusos, como se a autora tivesse espaço limitado para contar a história (e se calhar é verdade).As Navegantes derrotaram a Lua Negra, mas um novo perigo aproxima-se. Luna e Artemis descobrem uma estranha fonte de energia em Tóquio, concentrada na Academia Mugen e estranhos monstros atacam os cidadãos da cidade. Ao mesmo tempo, novas guardiãs aparecem, mas estas misteriosas guerreiras não parecem querer nada com as Navegantes.Apesar da temporada dos Death Busters ser muito diferente no anime e no manga, gosto igualmente das duas. O anime dura mais, claro, mas mesmo assim tive a sensação de que apreendi nuances da história, do "background" que não estão explicadas no anime. Por exemplo, no anime os Death Busters são apenas uns vilões que querem dominar a Terra e são cientistas. No manga, é-nos explicado porque é que eles querem dominar a Terra (para além do facto de serem maus e vilões e tudo o mais) e porque é que são cientistas (qual é o objetivo das experiências).Também nesta temporada entramos na mente das personagens principais. As Navegantes sentem-se ameaçadas e fazem algumas coisas pouco recomendadas, as Navegantes da parte "Exterior" do sistema solar mostram como se sentiam com a sua missão (e aqui mostram alguma irritação com o seu papel e a sua missão; não são 100% dóceis e devotadas) antes de "renascerem" como humanas. E confesso que foi giro ver o Mascarado com ciúmes...A temporada ou "arc" dos Death Busters só acaba no próximo volume, mas creio que tem tudo para se tornar, novamente, na minha favorita.No geral, creio que o anime e o manga se complementam. O anime dá-nos ação e o manga dá-nos uma visão das lutas interiores das personagens e algumas informações que estão em falta no anime (como as motivações dos vilões). Recomendado para quem gosta de shojo e a não perder para fãs das Navegantes da Lua.

Usagi finally learns that Chibi-usa came from the future in this volume. She and Chibi-usa struggle to keep the little girl safe from the bad guys, but neither can decide how to treat the other. Eventually, Usagi seems to decide to act like an adult with Chibi-usa as a child, but when they go to the future she reverts to reacting to Chibi-usa as though she were a rival.This arc moves much more quickly at the beginning of the action. Once you reach the future, things diverge from the anime and slow down a bit. I'm not sure which I prefer, but I do wish that there was more opportunity for development of the other guardians.This volume features the continuation and increase of tension and jealousy between Chibi-usa and Usagi over Mamoru. Usagi and Mamoru get a little more intimate than just kissing (though all their clothes stay on). Finally, one of the bad guys has a creepy obsession with future Usagi and the implications of some of the scenes with him and Usagi are a bit uncomfortable. There isn't too much violence in this one although the enemies still die when defeated.

So I'm reviewing this one a little late, but I've just started re-watching the Sailor Moon R anime (just finished the Doom Tree filler arc, not my favorite by a long shot). This part of the anime really encapsulates why the manga is so much better: no forced tension by having Mamoru dump Usagi for REASONS. The Mamoru of the manga is a more complicated and interesting character, with more powers than the ability to throw a damn rose. When he sees visions of the crumbling future, he does pull back from Usagi, but mostly because he fears he's not strong enough to support her. Yes, he pulls back. And yes, Usagi's jealousy of Chibi-Usa creates some additional strain, but they stay together and eventually resolve their problems over the course of the arc.Not so in the anime! Instead of trusting Usagi he just lies to her, claiming he no longer loves her and believes her to be weak. GAH! I'm glad I read the manga before getting to this part of the anime. At least the Ayakashi Sisters 4 are kick ass in both versions.
